Part 1

Hi, I thought I would share a little album update. As I write today, we are already deep into the recording of our latest record with preproduction well out the way and almost all of the drum tracks completed; things are shaping up to be on track for an August release.

This recording has been one of the biggest projects I have worked on. The challenges of

working in a small room and getting a huge hard hitting drum sound have been a source of frustration at times, but with a few long nights and dedicating a bunch of time refining

some tracking and mixing techniques I have managed to get the sound we wanted.

Some people may not be aware but like dialing in a guitar tone with an amplifier, drums

also must be tuned to suit the genre of music they are being played on. This is why we

spent some time doing a little trial and error until we could settle on a sound, we all liked.

With our mix of Pop, Punk, Metal and rock with a sprinkle of techno to keep me happy this wasn't quite as straightforward as planned. The Drum kit used in this production is a Natal Arcadia with an 18-inch kick drum. Don’t let the size put you off this smaller kick drum is tight and punchy and has been perfect for the hard rock tone we have gone for.
